December Favourites

It's been as short a year as any I've ever lived, and a packed one, and I've grown more this year than I can fully recognize, right now. (My love for commas, however, remains constant as ever, clearly.) But reflections are for later, when submissions aren't right on top of my head. For now, this is a snapshot of a December I hope to remember forever.
  1. 11:00 a.m., most days a week.
  2. Cough syrup.
  3. Cool new music, generally, even if the new One Direction album has unfortunately largely been a disappointment for me. :(
  4. Speaking of cool new music- NH7 Weekender! It was not an event I had ever imagined attending- it didn't really feel like my scene- and it was a last-minute, availability-of-cheap-tickets-dependent decision to go, but man am I glad I did. That has to be one of the best Sundays of my life- special shout out to Alien Chutney, The Map Room, dosa with chicken curry, favourite outfit (and my new gladiators' very first outing!) and the adorable gay couple I saw making out and being cute together, one of them stereotypically serious and stoic and his counterpart as flirty and dance-y as they come.
  5. Free food, terrible humour, and great company on the 17th of December. And an hour's indecision and hand-wringing over present-picking turning out to have been worth it. ^_^
  6. Christmas in the loveliest seaside town I've ever seen, across three continents. Nutella banana pancakes (nutella everything, really, those two days), and pasta and Indian and mashed potatoes and secluded beach coves and feeling like the embodiment of the Christmas spirit in my Santa hat and being wished by random strangers, and shopping and temple-hopping and those moments with the waves crashing around us and Christmas morning with you- it made hours of throwing up and freezing and room-hunting worth it. Worth every moment.
  7. December 31. The gorgeous venue, the people-watching, the warmth of that sweatshirt, the numerous hugs, the subway subs and cookies, the company, the conversations and whispered confessions.
  8. My new glasses! I was indifferent, I liked them, I hated them, I liked them, I bought them, I despised them, I cautiously liked them, and now I absolutely do like them! No changing my mind again, promise.
  9. Doobie.
  10. Jackass.
