Bad.

Why do bad things happen to good people?
Is it arrogant, bad to believe you're a good person,
Or but natural?
Don't challenge the universe, I tell people.
Don't ask, "What's the worst that could happen?"
I don't challenge the universe, I don't ask.
The worst happens.
Be good, be nice, don't jinx it. Touchwood.
It's jinxed anyway.

Why do bad things happen all together?
One, then another, then another-
Perhaps it will end now, maybe dawn will come now-
But no, darkness continues its reign,
Intensifies further,
Till you forget there ever was light.
Good vanquished by bad,
Like eraser on pencil-
Nay, worse, like fire on paper-
Not a trace of the beauty of the pencilled words
Left behind.

February Favourites: Sam

1. Trashy historical romances which need not be named, but were a fun addition to my holiday reading, as were Douglas Adams and Kazuo Ishiguro.

2. Grandma's food, and loads of sweets. Clearly, this has been a month of indulgence. WHICH IS SO AWESOME GUYS INDULGENCE IS THE BEST.

3. House, House, House! I'm watching it after nearly three years, and while I'm beginning to realize the accuracy of everyone's complaints about the predictability of each episode, it remains one of my favourite shows.

4. Cooking! Basic. Very basic. Okay, so I made tea. And maggi. BUT IT WAS ON A GAS STOVE AND LIKE TASTED GOOD AND ALL AND THAT IS AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME OKAY.

5. Frozen! I finally watched the movie, and I liked it very much. There has been much feminist back-and-forth-ing about whether it is a feminist step forward from Disney or not, but I just saw it as another nice Disney movie? Either way, I enjoyed it.

6. My new phone. I think I'm in love.
